IBM Thinkpad 600 - Pentium II 300 MHZ, 160 MB, 5GB HD

Orinico Gold Wireless PCMCIA - 128 Encryption. This wireless card has a great built in antenna that out performs a lot of the other PCMCIA cards. It also has a jack for an external antenna.

Netgear MR814 Wireless Router - 4 Port 10/100 Ethernet, 11MB Wireless, 128 Bit Encryption. I can not say enough good things about this wireless router. Very easy to setup, and the web interface is well designed. I originally bought a Linksys wireless router, and this Netgear router out performs the Linksys. The Netgear had better signal strength (reception on the Orinico), detailed logging, URL tracking/blocking via the web interface. I also am using a Linksys BEFSR11 as my main Ethernet router and the Netgear MR814 as my Wireless Router.

5 dBi Magnetic Mount Omni Antenna - This antenna will work mounted on a metal surface (car) or on your desk. It really suprised me with the enhanced reception with such a small antenna. The construction is top notch.

Future Plans

Buying an antenna to attach to the Netgear router to enhance reception outside of my house.

GPS to track Access Points in the area. I would like to do a sweep of the North Brunswick area.
